How to spend 2 days in Paris?

DAY 1 In Paris, France:

The circle de la Cite is one of two remaining natural islands in the Seine within the city of Paris. It is the centre of Paris and the location where the medieval city was bring into being. Take a walking tour of the city's early history, including visits to a pair of the world's most significant medieval Gothic churches: the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral and the exquisite Sainte Chapelle. I have toured several cathedrals in several countries and this one ranks up there with the best. There is also a beautifully maintained garden and sitting areas where once can relax and enjoy the beauty from the Church complex.

Later hop onto the Metro; Stop by a boulangerie (bakery) and grab a bagget with some amazing cheese to go by and then hike up Montmartre to tour the colourful neighbourhood. Many notable artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Renoir and generations of hopeful artists since have lived and worked in Montmartre, where the rents were low and the atmosphere jovial. Take Montmartre walking tours in Paris and finish your walk at the 360 degrees view of Paris from the Sacré-Coeur Basilica.

Stop at Sacree Fleur; an intimate restaurant, specializing in steaks and traditional French cuisine. Place is generally full and a reservation is recommended. Montmartre has some of the best shops to shop. Prices are cheap and quality is superb. Also, you can find some brilliant artists displacing their paintings.

Paris tour is incomplete without a tour of the Eiffel Tower, we may have seen it in numerous movies and books but this monumental construction is so impressive that you cannot take your eyes off it. When you arrive at the spot, you can only admire the looks and the size of the tower. Be there around the time when the sun sets and you're golden.

Set out to the Bir-Hakeim bridge near the Eiffel tower, either by taxi or by Metro (Passy) and indulgence yourself with a dinner cruise on the seine. You will see monuments like the Eiffel tower, the Alexander III arch bridge and the Musée d'Orsay. Estimated time: 1 hour. Can't imagine Paris minus the Seine, but they've been together since pre roman times. The banks are laid stone which has protected against flooding over the ages. The bridges are the most notable feature, my favourite is Pont Neuf.

CLUBBING:

Head to L’Attirail on the 3rd arrondissement, a very bohemian, chic place to see a jazz, blues or folk concerts. Else Le Baron this former brothel is now one of the coolest and fanciest nightspots in the city. Dress code is strict so be at your best to get an entry. DJ starts playing at 11 so you can dance the night away.

DAY 2 In Paris, France:

After a heart hangover remedy breakfast, take a walk through diverse, history layered Marais district. Be enlightened about the 17th-century urban planning at the beautiful Place des Vosges. Notice the cultural roots of the Jewish Quarter which started the Revolution.

Explore the City of Light on a hop-on, hop-off bus tour! I keep insisting on taking these whenever you have limited time to explore the city. This is the best way to can see and explore more monuments and tourist attraction than you will all day on your own. Choose the Paris attractions you want to see from the Eiffel Tower, to the Champ Elysées to L’Arc de Triomphe. The bus operates on 4 different routes so you can explore the best of Paris.

Europe's greatest museum: the Louvre is open late, and hence makes full advantage of that. You'll come face-to-face with the works of Rafael, Delacroix, and Leonardo, and timeless treasures that include Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, and hundreds more. Walking is strenuous so be prepared. Visit the western end of the Louvre and the formal gardens that make up Jardin des Tuileries Park, stretching from the Louvre to the Place de Concorde.

EVENING:

A visit to Paris can't be done without going to visit the Moulin Rouge theatre. A very exquisite show, it is certainly overcrowded but I think everyone has a good view of the stage and the atmosphere is intimate with a real buzz. Pre buy your skip the line tickets. The location is iconic - it retains its original authentic decor and you really get a sense of the history. Additionally, the show is fantastic and utterly dazzling! - A mistake to miss it if you are in Paris.

Also, if you get time visit The Pere Lachaise cemetery (Father Lachaise Cemetery) on the eastern edge of the city, is named after the Jesuit Father Lachaise, King Louis XIV's confessor. This is last resting place of famous people like Chopin, Moliere, Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison etc.

I have no words to describe the beauty of Paris, no matter how many trips you take; you will always discover something new and yearn for something old.
