What to see in Prague in 7 days?
Day 1 and 2
Start you trip by visiting one of the most picturesque bridges in Europe- the Charles Bridge. Constructed on the Vltava River, Charles Bridge connects the Old town of Prague with the New Town. Close to the bridge, there is Franz Kafka Museum which is another great attraction for the bibliophiles and everyone who is familiar with the Czech writer. Just a few minutes away is the second most beautiful island in the world- Kampa Island which is a perfect album to the medieval atmosphere of Prague. See the wall of Lennon covered in graffiti and Beatles’ songs. Learn about the middle ages in the lesser town of Prague called Malá Strana.
Day 3 and 4
These 2 days of Prague itinerary for one week will familiarize you with the historic past of Prague as you will be exploring the historical buildings and churches of the city. Begin by visiting St. Vitus Cathedral, a resting place for the saints like Vitus and Adalbert. Just a walking distance from the cathedral is St. George's Basilica. Explore the huge art collection at the Baroque Palace of Lobkowicz. Come back to the Old Royal Palace to admire the Renaissance style. But nothing can beat the grandeur of Prague Castle that dates back from the 9th century. You will need at least 2 hours to marvel at the Gothic, Roman, Renaissance, and Baroque styles that this magnificent castle presents. Also make a visit to the art gallery of Schwarzenberg Palace. The castle complex of Hradčany is where you would love to stroll through next. Head to the Strahov Monastery and don’t forget to catch the panorama of the city from Petřín Lookout Tower which is famously called as the Eiffel Tower of Prague.
Day 5 and 6
Exploring the Old Town of the city should be your next goal during the 7 days in Prague. And, the best way to do that is to start from the Old Town Square. This oldest square of the city is surrounded by many old Gothic buildings providing a glimpse of Prague’s historical grandeur. To indulge more in it, head to the Old Town Hall and there you will find the Astronomical Clock of Prague, the ultimate masterpiece of medieval period. Your next stop can be Prague National Gallery and Church of Our Lady before Týn. Discover other landmarks of the cobblestoned hub of the Old Town during these 2 days. This may include the Prague Jewish Museum, the Jewish ghetto of Josefov, the Museum of Decorative Arts, Maisel Synagogue, Old Jewish Cemetery etc. If you are a book lover, the historical complex full of books, Clementinum, should be in your bucket list.
Day 7
To see the transformation of the city, the Wenceslas Square is where you should start the day after exploring the Old Town. You will see the business and cultural communities everywhere at this square. Take a tour of historical and scientific collection at the National Museum and enjoy lunch at the unique, curving Dancing House. On the final day of your 7 days/ 6 nights in Prague, you can also visit the historic fort of Vyšehrad. Built by the Vltava River in the 10th century, this fort also has a medieval basilica. If you have time, you can also take a trip to the fort of Karlštejn.
Everything and anything in Prague is marked by incredible beauty and therefore, no matter which corner of the city you choose to go to, you will never get bored.
