Day 1 In Salt Lake City

Start your 3-day Salt Lake City tour by covering all the must-see places in the city. After a hearty breakfast at the Blue Plate Diner, start your city orientation tour by first visiting the Utah State Capitol Building. Located atop a hill overlooking the city, this site is one of the finest examples of an architectural masterpiece. Later, walk to the Temple Square and Main Street for a dose of history. One of Utah’s top attractions, the Temple Square has much beautiful landscape and historic buildings. You can stop for lunch at Nauvoo Cafe or the Garden Restaurant here. After lunch, head to the Hoglee Zoo and Natural History Museum of Utah. Located 7 miles to the east of the city, this is a perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon after a day full of moving around.

In the evening, head to the South West Temple for some great beer and live music.

Day 2 In Salt Lake City

Before you head out of the city, stop for a breakfast at Penny Ann’s Café downtown. Located 20 miles west of the Salt Lake City, the Great Salt Lake is the largest salt lake in the Western Hemisphere. While at the lake, you can rent a kayak or go paddle boating. But make sure you cover your head at all times as the sun can be very harsh. Later in the day, you can also go for a hike on Antelope Island. Before you call is a day, take a drive down the Fielding Garr Ranch which has many lookouts and stops.

While on the way back to the city, stop at the Red Laguna for a delicious Mexican fare.

Day 3 In Salt Lake City

On the day 3 of the 72 hours in Salt Lake City, visit the Big Cottonwood Canyon. Located 16 miles south of the city along the Interstate 215, this canyon offers many family-friendly recreational activities like hiking, biking, picnicking, rock-climbing, camping and fishing during the months of the summer. The canyon is also home to four ski resorts which host a variety of activities for your entire family to enjoy. The road is paved and a drive down this path will treat you to many great views of the mountains.

Be back in town by evening, and head to the downtown to one of the Utah-local microbrews.
