How to see San Francisco in 4 days?

Day 1 In San Francisco

Start off your 4 days in San Francisco by a visit to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. To see this panoramic view, something that you have always seen in pictures, in person is an incredible way to start your vacation. Take in the morning views of the bridge and the waters and make your way to Crissy Field. Crissy Field is a waterfront area with beaches and dunes, and promenade and trails. You can have a picnic breakfast here.

Within this park, there are 8 sculptures by Mark di Suvero. Take a look at those and make your way to the Palace of Fine Arts. Famous for being a historical monument, you can know more about it on your visit. Apart from serving as an art gallery, it is also a popular wedding destination.

For lunch, head to Fishermans Wharf. Lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants, this neighborhood can help you if it’s too hot outside. Indulge in a delicious meal before taking a stroll along to buy some trinkets. There are also a number of museums that can give you a glimpse into the history of the neighborhood, and some other quirky tourist attractions are also here for your entertainment.

The evening is the best part of this day, as you can explore the Alcatraz Island when the sun goes down! You can take the evening ferry to the island for their night tour.

Day 2 In San Francisco

The second day quite simpler as compared to the first. There are 2 neighborhoods that you can cover on this day, Chinatown and North Beach. Both of these have incredible tourist spots that you can visit. Start off with the latter, as Chinatown is best visited in the evenings. North Beach is famous for being the “Little Italy” of San Francisco, and as such, frescos and other designs of architecture can be observed in this neighborhood. Spend the morning through the lanes of this area and have a scrumptious lunch at any of its fabulous restaurants.

After lunch, head to Chinatown for the second half of the day. Teemed with markets, antique shops, restaurants and more, there is much to do here too. Spend the afternoon visiting the temples, and the evening shopping. Dim sums are a must while you’re here, so indulge in these too!

Day 3 In San Francisco

This day of your trip is dedicated to nature. And so, you can start your day by paying the California Academy of Sciences a visit. Famous for being one of the largest museums of natural history in the world, it serves as a home to a colossal number of plants and animal species. Rare albino alligators and snakes can also be viewed here. The museum has 4 main sections and they are, Kimball Natural History Museum, Morrison Planetarium, Rainforests of the World, and Steinhart Aquarium. Without hurrying through any section, you can complete 2 sections till early afternoon.

After a snack early evening, you can head to Mission District. Here lies the oldest building in San Francisco. It is also the same neighborhood where you will find local artists’ works in the form of murals and street art.

Day 4 In San Francisco

Like the previous day was dedicated to nature, this one is dedicated to the museums of the city. Make your way to the Civic Center District where there are a number of interesting museums that offer great insights on varied subjects.

The City Hall, Asian Art Museum, Cable Car Museum, War Memorial Opera House, and the Herbst Theatre are some of the major tourist attractions here.
