Pena Palace

The Pena Palace is a spectacular hilltop castle and was completed way back in 1854. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a beautiful amalgamation of different styles of architecture including Neo-Gothic, Neo-Manueline, Neo-Islamic and Neo-Renaissance. The structure gives you a taste of the 19th century Romanticism on a vast scale. Once you are done touring this national monument, you must also wander in the Pena Park which is blanketed in dense forest. There are many narrow paths in the path that are ideal to leisurely stroll in the park.

Castle of the Moors

This is yet another hilltop castle, dating back to the medieval era. Castle of the Moors was built in between the 8th and 9th century. It is a national monument of Portugal and is classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Exhibiting the Moorish style of architecture, this castle is majestic and at the same time showcases Romanticism.

Palace of Sintra

Located in the town of Sintra, this palace is the most easily accessible attraction. Palace of Sintra dates back to the medieval ages and has served as a royal residence from 15th to 19th century. Looking at the palace, you will see the influence of European and Moorish style of architecture in it. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now serves as a historic house museum.

Quinta da Regaleira

When in Sintra, you must visit Quinta da Regaleira which is one of the prime attractions in the city. This is an estate occupied by a lovely palace, a chapel, lakes, grottoes, fountains, wells, benches, and many other spectacular structures. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also known as The Palace of Monteiro the Millionaire. The palace primarily showcases Gothic style of architecture.
