How to spend 1 day in Srinagar?
At the start of your day, visit the Mughal gardens that include Chashm-E-Shahi, Shalimar Bagh and the Nishat Bagh. Located along the Boulevard Road in Srinagar, these gardens have rows of pretty flowers and trees with a twist of history. You can start by first visiting the Nishat Bagh and then proceed to visit the Shalimar Bagh and then Chashm-E-Shahi gardens. If you are visiting in the month of April, you will be treated to rows of colourful tulips. Located at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, this is a must visit. While visiting the Chashm-e-Shahi Garden, you can also visit the Pari Mahal which is a beautiful fortress.
As the afternoon approaches, you can head for a delicious local lunch. Kashmiri cuisine needs to introduction. Aromatic meat, along with rice, is the most popular food item in Kashmir. Modur Pulav, Matschgand, Yakhni or Yoghurt Lamb Curry, Dum Olav, Kashmiri Muji Gaad, Aab Gosht, and Goshtaba are just a few of the dishes you must try here.
Later, visit the Shankaracharya Temple. Located up above the city, on a hill, the drive up to this temple is quite a scenic one. You can see the entire lake city and its famous lake. Dal Lake and take a shikara ride along its waters. This is one of the experiences that you must not miss. After the ride, you can try the authentic Kashmiri tea called the ‘Kavha.’
