Considered as one of the largest and most populous cities of Australia and Oceania, Sydney is famous among the tourists for its sun-kissed beaches, iconic bridges, manicured gardens, and a glorious harbor which is home to Sydney Opera House. Located on the east coast of Australia, the beautiful city of Sydney has a lot to do for all kinds of travelers and so, when you spend one week in Sydney, you feel like you belong to this place. What to see in Sydney in 7 days?
Day 1 and 2
The first two days of your Sydney trip could be spent in getting familiar with the city’s culture, people, and monuments. To do this, you can take a walking tour of some of the attractions located near each other such as the Town Hall, Hyde Park, and Martin Place. Stop at the Circular Quay to capture the views of Opera House. Few minutes away from the Opera House is the Royal Botanic Gardens. Also see the bench shaped sandstone rock of Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair.
On day 2, you can visit the State Library of NSW and then head to see the famous and unique Rum Hospital. Treat yourself with some retail therapy at Pitt Street Mall and take a visual treat while walking through the Strand Arcade. The Queen Victoria Building is also a must-see. If you get time, you can catch a show at the Sydney State Theatre. Chill out at evening at Hyde Park and enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the Sydney Tower Eye.
Day 3 and 4
Sydney is surrounded by the Blue Mountains from one side. During your 7 days in Sydney, it would be a great travel idea to dedicate an entire day at the Blue Mountains National Park exploring its jaw-dropping sights that include the gushing waterfall of Wentworth, the Three Sisters and the Pulpit Rock. If you have an adventurous side, the Blue Mountains offer plenty of opportunities for you. Nevertheless, you can enjoy an excellent drive through the mountains.
Dedicate the next day to the beautiful beaches of Sydney. And, no place could be better than the Bondi- the white sand crescent beach of Australia. Enjoy a morning swim or if you can surf, Bondi beach would be a heaven for you. Have your breakfast at one of the laid-back cafes and restaurants on the beach and then go for a coastal walk that will take you from the clifftop Bondi to Coogee Coast. You can also stop at the Gordon’s Bay and enjoy sunbathing.
Day 5 and 6
On these two days, you can check out the suburbs of Sydney. Start with the Newtown and have your breakfast at one of the restaurant's present on the Kings Street. You can also go to the Surry Hills and take a tour of the art galleries located here. If it’s Saturday, you would love to shop from the local market. Also buy something stylish from one of the boutiques on Darlinghurst. At night, you can head to Kings Cross to party at a club.
Explore the harbor area of Sydney by taking a ferry on the Circular Bay to Manly and enjoy the breathtaking rocky beaches. Look into the marine life and flora of the place by taking an Eco-walk. Go swimming at Fairy Bower Rock Pool and relax at the Shelly Beach. At evening, you can stroll on the cobbled streets of the Rocks.
Day 7
Your 7 days/ 6 nights in Sydney will be incomplete without a visit to the Darling Harbor. Satiate your tongue with the delicious seafood at one of the harbor restaurants and head to the wildlife zoo and maritime museum. Another good place to visit, especially for the shopaholics, is the Paddy’s Market. You will find a large collection of jewelry, clothes, and cosmetics in this market, that too, at a cheaper price. Visit the night market of Chinatown to buy or tour the Asian crafts.
