Also called Thiruvananthapuram, Trivandrum is the capital of Indian state of Kerala. The city is located on the coast of Arabian Sea and is home to many British style colonial buildings, art galleries, beaches, temples, and of course, the Travancore Royal Family. If you are coming to Kerala, you must visit Trivandrum. If you are going to be in town for 72 hours, here is how you can spend 2 days in Trivandrum.

How to spend 2 days in Trivandrum?

Day 1 in Trivandrum

Start your day 1 by visiting the Napier Museum. This art and natural history museum are one of the top attractions in the city. Set inside a 19th-century building, this museum houses many archaeological and historical artefacts. After exploring the museum at your own pace, in the afternoon head to the Kanakakkunnu Palace. This old royal palace is open to the visitors who can explore its beautiful interiors and lush gardens. Later visit the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo. Covering 55 acres of woodland, lakes, and lawns, this is one of the oldest zoos in the state. A variety of domestic and exotic animals appeal to a range of tourists.

In the evening, visit one of the best beaches in Kerala, the Kovalam Beach. At just a 30 minutes drive from the city, this beach is often called the 'Paradise of the South'. The name of the place literally translates into 'a grove of coconut trees,' and hence it is here that you will be treated to endless views of the coconut trees. Enjoy the sunset here as you see the sunset over the horizon of Arabian Sea.

Day 2 in Trivandrum

On the day 2 of your visit, head to Kerala Science and Technology Museum. This museum is home to many educational exhibits and activities that focus on the various scientific principles in the fields of physics, electronics, and technology. Also located here is a planetarium that you must visit. Next, visit the Puthenmalika Palace Museum to witness some stunning royal architecture. In the afternoon, visit one of India's top temples, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Built in 1729, this temple complex features a towering gateway and is dedicated to Padmanabha. Later in the evening, Shankumugham Beach to catch another glimpse of the sunset.
