2 Days in Tianjin - Perfect Weekend Guide

Famed for being a large city with deep cultural roots, Tianjin is a blend of modern and archaic. While is looks glamourous and bright, deep inside, in its shrines and palaces, are the real people who are rooted to their culture and traditions. With the River Haihe flowing through the heart of the city, there are also many riverfront spots that make for some cosy time with friends and family. 2 days in Tianjin may not be enough to do it all but are perfect to give you an experience that encompasses the essence if the city.

Are 2 days enough to explore Tianjin?

Getting in the city:

It is quite easy to choose your mode of transport while getting into the city. Tianjin Binhai International Airport connects the city to all the major tourist destinations like Auckland, Hong Kong, Singapore, and London. Apart from air, you can even opt for trains, buses, or even choose to drive down!

Getting around the city:

Moving around within the city is easy and is nothing that you should worry about. Metros are the most convenient modes of transport to get around the city. Taxis are available everywhere, as are buses.

How to spend 2 days in Tianjin?

Day 1

Start off your trip with a visit to Tianjin Zoo. part of the nearby water park, you can spend the morning exploring the zoo and enjoying the various activities at the park. Home to 3000 animals of 200 species, it is a wonderful way to begin your 2 days in Tianjin, especially if you are travelling with children. Have lunch here itself.

After lunch, make your way to Tianjin Radio and Television Tower. Famous for being the 8th tallest tower in the world that is freestanding, it makes for some incredible clicks. Spend the afternoon and evening at the Tianjin Natural History Museum. Spread over 3 floors, it has close to 380,000 specimens ranging through various subjects like biology and geology. Although it was founded in 1914, it has been updated regularly, and is quite modern.

Day 2

Start your second day by visiting Tianjin Old Town Museum. House to a number of antiques, it makes for a casual start for the day. In its vicinity, there are a number of other famous sites like Drum Tower of Nanjing and Guangdong Guild Hall, that might interest you. For lunch, head to Guwenhua Jie. An old cultural street, you can wander into the neighbouring ancient regions. Perfect for the afternoon, you can plan a dinner at the restaurants overlooking the river here too. Since it is packed with old sites, shops and restaurants, it is perfect for a leisure afternoon.
