The city of canal and bridges allows you to wander through the narrow waterways with a simple gondola ride. And not to miss is the plethora of museums in the city that let you know about Venice’s art, culture, and history. If you are planning to spend 4 days in Venice, then take a look at this itinerary and you will get an idea about how you can make the most of your time.
How to see Venice in 4 days?
Start off your first day in Venice by exploring the San Marco neighborhood. This is the area where most of the prime attractions in the city are located. All the places, being closely situated to each other, can be covered on foot. Since there are many churches in San Marco, you may go hopping from one religious site to another. Amongst all, you must visit the St Mark’s Basilica. Located in the huge St Mark’s Square, this basilica leaves you stunned and gives you a glimpse of the Venetian wealth and royalty. Other attractions that are a must visit in San Marco include Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs, Saint Mark’s Clocktower and Campanile, and Rialto Bridge. At night, you must visit Teatro La Fenice. It is an opera house which is considered to be very significant in the history of Italian theater.
On your second day in Venice, explore the Dorsoduro district. You can start by visiting Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. Located by the Grand Canal, this Roman Catholic church was built in between 1631 and 1687. Then make your way towards Peggy Guggenheim Collection. This is a museum set in an 18th-century waterside palace and holds an extensive collection of 20th-century art. Next head towards Ponte dell'Accademia. This is a wood and metal bridge with padlocks and is a popular spot for taking beautiful pictures. If you wish to peek at the art and furniture of 18th-century Venice then you must visit Ca' Rezzonico which is yet another waterside museum. If time permits, a few other attractions that you may fit in your 4 day 3 night Venice itinerary include Gallerie dell'Accademia, Scuola Grande dei Carmini, and Chiesa di San Sebastiano.
Venice is home to a large number of museum that make you step back in time or give you an insight into the art and culture the city. Let your third day be a museum hopping day. Unique in their own way, you will not have one dull moment while visiting one museum after another. Apart from the museums that have been included in the first two days of your itinerary, a few other museums that you must visit during your Venice trip include Museo Civico Correr, Casa Carlo Goldoni, Scuola Grande di San Rocco, Ca' Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, and Fondaco dei Turchi. Also do not forget to fit in a gondola ride in between your visits to the museum. This gondola ride will allow you to navigate the narrow waterways of Venice, allowing you to soak in the city’s charm.
On your last day in the city, you may explore the outlying islands of Venice that are popular in their own unique way. You may opt for a boat tour of the outlying islands which would prove to be friendlier on your pockets. The islands that are to be visited include Murano, Burano, and Torcello. While Munaro island is known for glass blowing, Burano island is popular for lace making. If you finish your tour soon, and you have some time on your hands then you may go shopping in Venice. You will come across numerous shops around Piazza San Marco where you will feel compelled to go on a shopping spree.
With this Venice itinerary for 4 days at hand, you will be able to thoroughly explore the beautiful city.
