Verona Itinerary 2 Days
Verona Itinerary 2 Days: Overview
Verona...the land of love and loss, art and music, and food and fests! Famed for being the homeland of the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet, die-hard fans of this story find themselves in the walls of Juliet’s walls, and wandering in the city picturising every bit if the tale. But apart from the balconies that overlook the streets and gardens, there is much more to this city! 2 days are good enough to taste the flavour of the city, although not enough if you want a complete experience.
Let your 48 hours in Verona be a blend of music and theatre, food and brews, and art, culture, and history!
Day 1 in Verona: Turn the pages of history
Verona is best known for its incredible history. Whether it be the age-old ruling by the Romans, the famous Romeo Juliet story, or the incredible architecture that this city boasts of, there is so much to see in Verona!
After a traditional delicate breakfast, head to the country’s third largest, and one of the oldest Roman arenas. Arena di Verona has a unique air to it and combine that with the history that it has been a witness to, and just being there will be a little overwhelming. Summer time here is the best, as festivals are celebrated and many opera shows can be enjoyed here. The arena is located in Piazza Bra, which is one of the city center squares of Verona. Grab a bite here before moving on.
The best plan would be to tour the entire area on foot. With incredible historical monuments located within close proximity, you can tour the entire area by yourself!
Some of the sites here that you must visit are Torre dei Lamberti, Santa Maria Antica, Juliet’s House Verona, and Piazza dei Signori. You can visit the last one at the end of the day and enjoy a good meal at any of the cafes and restaurants at this square.
Day 2 in Verona: Art and the city
Coming to Italy and not keeping a day for its art is like a crime! So, spend the second day in Verona’s lovely museums. Start off with Complex of the Cathedral-Duomo. A church that is no less than an artwork by itself, it displays remarkable fresco art and design.
Cross the Castelvecchio Bridge to visit the Castelvecchio Museum. Exhibiting sculptures, statues, paintings and more, all by famous artists, it is one of the best things that you can do in 2 days in Verona.
There are a couple of churches on this side of the river that you must visit before crossing the waters. On the other bank is another theatre, Roman Theatre. Old, but beautiful, it is also famous for putting up some of the most incredible theatre performances.
