This former prison for women is now the cultural center of the city and is a great place to chill after a long tiring day out. There are a number of live performances carried out to encourage ad promote young and emerging artists. Spread over a triangular area it is uber modern maze of restaurants, cafes, art exhibits and gardens.
The old prison built in 1901 was a chapel-monastery and is now dedicated to those who suffered under the dictatorship; the complex is a bewildering display of surreal art, glass-framed walkways, and rust-colored flagstones. Stark metal pillars and driftwood installations contrast with a convent-style chapel.
There is also a striking water fountain music show in the evening which you shouldn’t miss out.

El Paseo Buen Pastor Reviews & Ratings
Must see for tourists! The former prison for women was partially demolished and it turned into a unique cultural site, where you can see the original chapel( now used for diverse events), some corridors and rooms that are currently stores. There is an interesting fountain with dancing waters. There are restaurants and bars for all ages, a room for Art Exhibits. The open space is "the" place where young people meet to hang out with friends, drink "mate"or study. At night, it's a meeting point for teenagers and young people.
A lovely place to spend the afternoon walking with loved ones. Very serene.lots of things to do in the area. Definitely worth the trip.
Oh el paseo is absolutely lovely, you might want to see the musical dancing water fountain but you could also grab something to eat on the other side of the tiny park. My grandpa loved sitting down and watching the capuchinos church from such a short distance before we went in. Definitely a must if you ever come over~
Free! Great relaxing municipal building. Extremely clean. We were lucky to view a local art installation and to sit and relax for a few minutes on many of the available benches. Highly recommended stop. Plan an hour or less. We went back by in the evening to see the spactacular fountain light show.
Nice place, I don't know many places in this city where you find public and clean toilets for free.
