Cyprus Museum - Review
When your resident American Ambassador begins to cart off your nation’s heritage in the thousands, like Luigi Plama di Cesnola did with Cyprus’, then it’s high time to get your own museum. Now, despite fourteen exhibition halls in which Cypriot artefacts are chronologically and thematically displayed, the collection has become so large that the only a small percentage of it is non display at any given moment. A lot of the current excavated items tend to go to the local district museums because of the lack of space. As for the items themselves, it’s all pottery and coins and statues and gold. They have a magnificent Greek-Roman pottery collection.

Cyprus Museum, Nicosia Reviews
Decent place for a quick walk around if you want to see some Cypriot history. Mostly just pots and terracotta, bronze age artefacts along with some statues and such. It's not very big and probably doesn't need more than half an hour, if that. Not really much in the book store to buy.
A lot bigger than it looks from the start! The video on the Swiss excavations in the display set up in the style of the one tomb with thousands of statues was great. A lot of the information is presented in a very object-focused approach (as in, "here is a fascinating and beautiful object from ancient times" instead of "what was life like then?") which plagues Cyprus's museums and archaeological sites, but some newer installations seem to be remedying that. 4.50 euro entry. Parking is on adjacent streets by 1-hour meter, which I had to feed twice.
Impressive range of objects from archaeological excavations all around the island. Must see for people who would like to find our more about the island's rich history.
It is a nice museum, well maintained and so much to see!! We had a free tour in English when we were there and the guide was really good!
Take a slow walk through here to see civilization through the ages. You can kill about 2 hours if you go through slowly. 20 minutes of you aren't interested.
