The Pyramids At Dahshur - Review

The royal necropolis at Dashur is notable for several of the oldest and best preserved pyramids of Egypt, most prominent of which are the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid. The Red Pyramid, which is the only smooth sided pyramid in the world, is the only one accessible to the public.

The Bent Pyramid here is unique in having two separate entrances. The good condition of these pyramids is owed to the hot dry air of the area. Currently the site is under threat of desecration from the unmonitored locals who have moved back into the security vacuum here created by the 2011 Egyption revolution. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Cairo itinerary 4 days.

The Pyramids At Dahshur, Cairo Reviews

  • Great pyramid. Not as popular as other pyramids, parking lot a little distance away. Good pyramid to explore around. Nothing here for an Egyptian to try and extract more money away from you for a bribe. Welcome relief

  • An amazing historic place which is not famous like Giza plateau. The bent pyramid was built by Pharoah snufru around 4000 B. C. This is the first try to build a pyramid in ancient Egypt but it was not successful because the angle was not correct, it was followed by other successful try to build the first complete pyramid in ancient Egypt which is is only 2 km from the bent pyramid and calling the red pyramid. U can go inside the red pyramid through long corridor till the burying chamber included in the entrance ticket price.

  • Not 10/10 content and its boring sand

  • Comparing with the pyramids of Giza of which surroundings were completely urbanized, I like the pyramids of Dahshur. Pyramids appearing suddenly in the desert is so mysterious. Although shape of this pyramid is strange, the grater part of limestones were left and it is beautiful. But, it is so hard to come here by ownself. Hiring a tour guide and a driver is wiser choice.
