This ancient palace was claimed to be royal residence in the early 14th century. However, the history says, it was originally built as a citadel by the Romans in around 123 BC. Later, when it was conquered by the Moors, the citadel was transformed into the royal residence for Majorcan kings. Today, it sets an example of rustic architecture that has survived till date. At present, it has become one of the important attractions of Mallorca. The striking feature of the palace is the throne room that has huge pointed-arch ceilings and the Santa Praxedis Chapel.

• Entry for children (under 5 years), large families, ICOM members and associations, disabled people, EU and Spanish-American citizens on Wednesday and Thursday, from 3pm-6pm (October to March) and from 5pm-8pm (April to September) and on 18th May, is free of cost.
