Amstelpark is a hidden gem of Zuid district and was constructed at the time of the biggest international horticulture exhibition. This huge park encompasses numerous fascinating gardens, a restaurant, a cafe, varied attraction for the little ones, mini-golf and two galleries. The park was established in the year 1972 and today is one of the most popular and beautiful parks in Amsterdam. There are rigorously maintained gardens, the Rosarium which is a rose garden, a rhododendron valley consisting of 139 varieties of the plant (8000 bushes out of which some are 4 meters high), a butterfly friendly garden, a Belgium cloister garden and others. Other than those, you can also find farm animals, a maze, a miniature train, areas for picnic and a public piano at Amstelpark.

Amstelpark Reviews & Ratings

  • Good destination for rare sunny days in Amsterdam. Good destination for families with smaller children. There is a small train that goes through park, so it is one way to keep kids occupied. Throughout the park there are various animals in their natural habitat (fenced off don't worry). Overall, relaxing place in busy Amsterdam

  • What a beautiful quiet, clean and diverse park! One of the better ones in Amsterdam. With plenty of diverse things to do and see, for adults and kids. Markets from spring onwards make a nice change. Mini golf, restaurants, pancake house, beautiful walks and different animals and a whole section for kids to play makes this a real recommendation to anyone who wants to have a good day outside!

  • One of the best park in Amsterdam! Perfect! And the train is always there, for many many years. It is great for children and a good way of feeling young for the adults.

  • A great park for families and Pokemon Go players. There are a few food joints scattered around for a drink or bite. There is even a great playground for kids and a little train (€3 pp) that goes around the park (1,4km). Parking at the entrance is free in the weekend.

  • Was a great outdoor market. Can also get some hot dishes for eating in the park area. Cheeses, empanadas, veggies, breads, coffee.... market was plentiful of local made goods....very nice market we beat about...
